In honor of the 44th Association for Jewish Studies Conference Annual Conference - Association for Jewish Studies taking place in Chicago over the next three days at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, 301 East North Water Street, simultaneously coordinating as many as 15 different lectures and seminars all taking place at the same time in various conference rooms every other hour, also showing a series of films, meeting from 8 am until 11 pm daily, or 45 hours over the course of three days, I will select a uniquely original contemporary Israeli film to review each day. While this will include one of the more infamous Israeli directors, Avi Nesher, also explored will be a couple of debut features as well. The political flux within the nation does not seem to affect the state of the nation's art, which at least evidenced by these films, continues to be challenging, featuring boldly original scripts and terrific performances. Hopefully this is something everyone can all enjoy.
